Who We Are

Bethany Baptist Church is a gathering of people and families who seek to Encounter God, Equip People and Engage Our City.

Encounter God

From the very beginning God’s plan has been simple and intimate – that His Creation, mankind, would know and relate with Him personally. Even now, in an imperfect and fallen world, that purpose is still the same. As a church, our purpose is no different. Our desire is to be more than a series of meetings, ministries or services; our top priority is to help people encounter and know God in a personal, real and intimate way that transforms their life from the inside out.

[God said] “They will be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.” (Jeremiah 32:38-39, NLT)

Some Ways We Help Connect People to God:

Equip People

God never sought to have marginal relationships with people, nor was His desire for people to have marginal relationships with one another. As a community of faith we want to equip people to: grow deeper in their faith, share life together, and learn about their God-given gifts and abilities and how to use for the benefit of the church and others.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the Head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16, ESV)

Some Ways We Seek to Equip People:

Engage Our City

In all His power, God still desires to use people to be His hands and feet in loving, reaching, serving and leading others back to Himself. In the same way that God reaches through time and space to heal, restore and redeem people (in particular, by sending Jesus to save mankind), God sends His people to be Light in darkness and hope in hopelessness. Our prayer as a church is to be an active part of the lives of our neighbors, surrounding community and even our global community, both corporately and as individuals.

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead [with people], “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:17-20, NLT)

Some Ways We Seek to Engage Our City:

What We Believe

While we operate autonomously as our own body, we are part of the Southern Baptist Convention and hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 for our core doctrine and theology.
